The Crochet Cradle

My favorite threads to work with are those that can be easily used with a size 3.50 hook, E or F hook.  High on my list is size #3 thread.  #3 threads are nice to work with because they work up quickly, and are usually quite soft.  Many #3 threads are available in soft mercerized cotton, or cotton blends that don't shrink & are color fast.

I also enjoy working with high quality soft yarns for my baby garments.  I dislike the bulky, acrylic yarns that are itchy, work up thick & frequently "pill".  If you are striving for heirloom or hand-me-down quality, don't skimp on the quality of yarn.  My favorite yarn is Patons Grace, a 100% highly mercerized cotton.  Very nearly a thread, but thicker than a #3.  It has a wonderful sheen to it an makes beautiful, high-quality garments!  The needle recommendation is a G-hook, but I have had more success with a smaller F hook.
